Miraa is releasing her latest track What I Smoke which complements its beats with the streets of Algiers . On closer inspection, the track teamed with the backdrop of a rustic Algiers marries her image, her stance and her words perfectly into this 4 minute wonder.

A lot of the time, lacklustre comes to mind when it comes to the music scene in Britain injecting and projecting anything that: a) has a loud and proud female voice, and b) coming also straight out of Algeria.

There’s not surprises when it’s a French Algerian artist spitting their game in French, but imagine now there’s someone who does this, only in English. And from Tottenham. But she was born in Algeria.

Miraa May boasts a host of tracks, and her passion is something that comes smoothly to her. Not afraid to stand out from her peers, Miraa began her time performing organically at Tate Modern, Southbank, Kensington Roof Top Gardens and even a set at Glastonbury. Her unique vocal style, which she refers to as an inspiration from Algerian Rai music; has led to her being noticed by leaders in the music industry.

Having been born in Algeria, then brought over at a young age to Britain, Tottenham to be exact, Miraa has an extensive and eclectic stimulus board if you will. She cites the Rai music of Algeria being a constant at home, and something she’d definitely dabble in if given the chance. Then of course the usual pop singers that take your fancy as a teenager such as the Jonas Brothers and more soul fulfilling, and lyric enticing artists like Amy Winehouse and Kendrick Lamar.

Forward now to her latest ensemble, filmed with the Rize team, Miraa is releasing her latest track What I Smoke which complements its beats with the streets of Algiers (she’s the first lady to dare being filmed in Climat de France, famous for being a dangerous hood). On closer inspection, the track teamed with the backdrop of a rustic Algiers marries her image, her stance and her words perfectly into this 4 minute wonder. The folded arm stance takes its chance over and over in this clip, and though may seem rudimentary on first glance, actually invites you more to find why she’s going to break this barrier.

It’s her turn to deconstruct the status quo, mouth open and eyes peeled. If you thought a woman was meant to be seen and only heard, you thought wrong and Miraa will definitely tell you otherwise. She got the sauce, don’t know what you thought. We are all gonna get it, and trust me she’ll show you.

Previously alluding to her no nonsense way of chat and wanting to protect those in her vicinity through her words and actions, her lyrics are a therapy for not only her but her supporters also. The enticement of seeing a female in strong posture in the middle of Algeria is a big up to and homage to the people of this bled.

DON’T MISS IT !!!
